Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the electronic grade book also known as Grade Book or Parent Access. You can use one account to view all your children who attend Southern Local School District.

When you create your account, you have some options to help you monitor your child(ren)'s progress. For each child, you can opt to setup a Missing Work Alert and/or Low Mark Alert. A Missing Work Alert will be sent to your email every Friday morning for the week (Friday the week before through Thursday) when the teacher marks the assignment as missing. The missing work is averaged as a “0” grade until the work is turned in and graded.

A Low Mark Alert will also be sent every Friday morning if your child falls below the grade you set as their goal. When you select the Low Mark Alert, you will select which courses you want to receive alerts. This may include all their classes but lunch and Intervention/Digital classes. The second alert will let you know your student has fallen below the grade you set. An example of a Low Mark, you set "B" as the grade for Math. When your student falls below the "B" you will receive an email on Friday.

If the low grade also has missing work, you will receive two email alerts on Friday.

How to read your child’s Grade Book:

Teachers may enter assignments in their ProgressBook before they grade the assignments. The assignment will have the date the work is assigned. The teacher will give students a “Due Date.” Until the teacher grades the assignment, the assignment has no effect on the child’s grade. When you read the average for the class, the average is based on the work graded, not the work assigned.

How to request a Parent Access Account:

If you do not have an account, or you are adding a child to your account, you can Click here to request Parent/Student access or address issues. Submit the information requested in the form. You will receive an email with the information you need to set up the account.

Thank you.
